One of the more pleasant culinary concepts in the country is the sushi rodizio. It is an all-you-can eat sushi menu. Not the cheesy and often disappointing buffet types you sometime see on the West Coast of the U.S., but a served-at-your-table array of sushi, sashimi, temaki, teriyaki… you name it. Tonight I indulged in this delicacy with a kiwi capri-sake to wash it all down (a caipirinha with sake instead of cachaça).

Oooooh that sounds delicious! As soon as my baby is born I’m going to eat sushi. A LOT of it!
In Manhattan, my doctor told me it was OK to eat sushi, mostly because the danger in eating sushi is that the mother will get sick if the fish is bad and not be able to take any medicine, rather than it hurting the baby (outside of the mercury). But he said in NYC it was so competitive, you wouldn’t really run into bad sushi. However, the same doctor also told me I could drink alcohol (which I did not), just not to be an alcoholic, so, you know, different strokes for different folks…

And the sushi here is really, pretty consistently, good too. Better than I’ve had in other cities.
Sushi! I haven’t had it in over 6 months….next time we go to Porto Velho, though I’m going ot find a restaurant and gobble!

One thing I love about Brasil are the rodizios: carne, pizza, sushi, postre…I wish Peru would get in on that more! Peru has pretty good sushi as well from the amount of Japanese immigrants that made their way over here, but I don’t think it is as good as I have had in Brasil. Please, the next time you go, have an extra piece for me!
HA! You bet I will!! Yes, the pizza rodizio is good too. I only saw one when we were in Ouro Preto, but I’m sure there are some around Sao Paulo somewhere.
