Brazilian Challenge Day 175: Bolo de Brigadeiro

For Day 175 of my challenge to become for Brazilian, now in Chicago for the next few weeks, we (it was a family event with my daughter and nephew) made a bolo de Brigadeiro.

While we scoured the internet for the perfect recipe, we are currently at my parents house, and since we waited until the evening, limited to the ingredients we had on hand to supplement the ones I brought from Brazil. So we improvised a bit.

It seemed to be going ok. But too late we realized we used a flour that was labeled “Gram Flour (besan). What was that? Oh well. Flour is flour, right?

The kids had fun tasting along the way, of course.

The cake turned out good, although a bit strange tasting. This morning we discovered that we had used chickpea flour in the cake.

Well, if anyone happened to be wondering what a cake made with chickpea flour might taste like, it’s not too bad.
