Brazilian Challenge Day 170: Pão de Queijo em Casa

So Day 170 of my challenge to be more Brazilian, Chicago edition, I made homemade pão de queijo. Well, it kind of depends how you define “homemade.” Say you buy a box of Betty Crocker cake mix, mix it up and put it in the oven, and then take it to a party. Someone asks you, “Hey is that home made?” Do you respond with, “No, it came from a box.” You don’t. You just say yes. (When you create something with only the very basic ingredients from your own kitchen it is making it “from scratch.” FYI for those foreign to the USA.)

So, ok. I made it from a bag. But it was still pretty good. Not as good as when you get it straight from the padaria. But surprisingly good.

Here’s a recipe for the puffy kind of cheese bread.
I used to make it for my husband when we were in the US. It’s simple and delicious.

I love this cheese bread we have something similar in Colombia and I totally miss it!! I think you did it yourself, I love the way you explain the whole homemade and from scratch it so puts things into perspective when it comes to cooking. You are doing really well to be more Brazilian 🙂 congrats!

Megan, I have a recipe for homemade (for real) pao de queijo. It´s really good and super easy to make. I´ll give it to you when you come back.

Yoki is a great quality brand, love their products.
They actually have quite a large distribution center in New Jersey and distribute their products all over the US. You can find Yoki at Stop and Shop and other large American stores as well as Brazilian stores all over the US.

  6. Felipe says:

yoki is such a good brand, but its incomparable to the homemade original pão de queijo ;p
